Raw Landscapes That Let You Feel the Earth Itself
Within an hour’s drive from the hot spring town, you’ll find some of Japan’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders—like Akiyoshidai, the country’s largest karst plateau, the vast limestone caverns of Akiyoshidō, and Tsunoshima, an island born of volcanic activity.
For those looking to connect with nature more deeply, we recommend activities like stand-up paddleboarding in the crystal-clear waters of Fukawa Bay, or joining a full moon hike across Akiyoshidai, where the land glows under moonlight.
The Fukagawa Kiln Village in Sannose
Tucked away in Sannose, this small village is home to five Hagi ware kilns, where over 360 years of history and craftsmanship are still carefully preserved.
The atmosphere is quietly dignified, yet there's a gentle warmth in the air—making it the perfect destination for a slow bike ride from the hot spring town.
In late May, fireflies begin to appear after sunset, filling the village with a soft, dreamlike glow.
A Stroll-Friendly Hot Spring Town
Follow the gentle flow of the Otozure River through town, where riverside walkways, stone paths, and terrace decks invite you to slow down and wander.
The town is full of spots to enjoy good food and drinks—from local favorites like kawara soba and yakitori to craft breweries, taprooms, and cozy bars.
Grab something to go and enjoy it by the river, at a foot bath, or wherever feels right—it's the kind of place where the everyday hustle feels miles away.
