Salt-Making Observation Tour— Discovering the Blessings of Mountains and Sea —

In Yutani Bay, located at the northwestern tip of Honshu, minerals from the forest flow with the rain into the rivers, where they meet and mingle with the minerals of the sea in calm, bay-like brackish waters. This unique environment creates salt rich in the combined blessings of both mountain and ocean.

The tour is hosted by Hyakusho-an, a local salt maker who continues the tradition of crafting salt using firewood and time-honored methods. As you observe the slow, careful process of boiling down seawater, you gain a deeper appreciation for the connection between the landscape and the salt it produces.

Guests can taste freshly made salt, and a jar of salt is included as a souvenir to take home. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSerP8kuLTnO_HN0Ws5nK8CRb6faVi6dSCrgKedW8gBHPliXPw/viewform
