“Delicious Rice Cooked in a Rice Cooker – Rice Cooking Workshop”

September 28, 2022

Announcement for SOILesson at SOIL WORK 2F’s shared kitchen, where participants gather to eat, create, and contemplate life.

How do you usually cook your rice?

For many people, having access to high-quality rice at supermarkets and being able to quickly and deliciously cook it with the press of a button is a fortunate aspect of daily life. Those who have lived abroad may particularly appreciate this as an experience.

Even within the lifestyle of Japan, when you have a little extra something for your meal, it’s like giving yourself a moment of care in your daily life if you can cook up a slightly nicer bowl of rice to accompany it.

With Mr. Kazu, the 4th generation president of Sumidaya Shoten, who expresses his desire for people to enjoy rice as a delicacy, as the instructor, we will hold a workshop on how to cook delicious rice using a rice cooker at the intersection of rice and culture in Nihonbashi, where the Tokyo Rice Exchange existed during the Meiji era.

The first session will be a basic class. After a one-hour rice cooking workshop from washing to completion, we’ll have a lecture on making onigiri and a salted onigiri lunch with Mr. Hayano from ANDON, who usually provides onigiri at the open office.
