Nihonbashi

- Where local cultures intersect

Story
“Sensing Nihonbashi’s locale”
People and goods come and go, redevelopment projects are underway, and Tokyo continues to change. Under those conditions, it has become difficult to find Tokyo’s true cultural terroir; where one can feel the essence of a particular area and its community’s energy and culture. But Nihonbashi, as the starting point for the five routes of the Edo period, has always been a place where culture and ideas are exchanged. We are committed to lay roots here and hope to help contribute to the color and diversity of the town.
“Where you’ll always find good company”
The inkling to go back to a favorite café or restaurant is often thanks to the facial expressions of the people there– the barista’s smile, or a friend laughing. It’s that excitement of seeing someone that brings you back. Parklet Bakery on the ground floor will always welcome you with a calm vibe, good coffee, and of course great bread. SOIL WORK on the upper floors, reveals a tight knit community consisting of designers, craftspeople, chefs, programmers, and more who will collaborate daily. During weekends, you may find your favorite farmer in our marché. SOIL is a place to come back to.
“Ages 8 to 80. SOIL and the park”
When we first came to see this park side spot, “8 to 80” was the first notion that came to mind. SOIL would be an extension of the park, and the park an extension of SOIL–accessible to all ages, all genders, cats and dogs, and everyone else. We are committed to cater to locals, not only providing great company, bread, and drinks but also hosting farmers’ markets, cultural events, and opportunities for both children, workers, creatives and parents to learn something new. We are excited to create SOIL together with Nihonbashi.
Eat & Drink
A bakery cafe, a corner of the park
Parklet is a place for the public, a small ‘park’ where bread is baked and served. The space is part-bakery and part-extension of the Horidome Children’s Park just outside. Naturally leavened breads along with breakfast, lunch, and evening bites are all prepared with a focus on quality ingredients. And a variety of daytime and evening drinks too. A visit to Parklet on any given day reveals the colors of the season, tastes of the locale, and energy of the community.
“Moving forward with regenerative agriculture”
Rooted in regenerative organic practices, Overview Coffee focuses on how humans can interact with the planet in a more natural, harmonious way. Coffee is sourced from farms that prioritize environmental stewardship through a long-term approach to soil health, biodiversity and community stability, working with what exists in nature to grow crops instead of in opposition to it.
Overview Coffee Japan’s roaster lives inside of the Soil Setoda Kura, along with a coffee bar where visitors can participate in coffee tasting and cupping sessions (reservation required).

Work
A co-working work community
Instead of the usual serviced office, SOIL NIHONBASHI is a co-working run workplace managed and overseen collaboratively by our tenants. We’ve chosen this path because we want to focus on building a tight-knit yet diverse community where every participant becomes committed to the point where honest problem solving occurs naturally. There are meeting rooms, a living room lounge, and a shared kitchen for all tenants.
